Fish for a Healthy Diabetic Diet

There are specific foods that help more than others in a diabetic diet. While all healthy foods are great for overall health, there are some that give more nutritional benefits than others. Fish, for example, is a food that goes hand-in-hand with diabetes.

Since a diabetic diet must be a well balanced diet, eating fish is a great way to add lots of protein and it also has several added benefits such as the well known oil that fish contain called OMEGA 3.

Omega 3 oils are natural oils found in fish that help to lower the fat in your blood and prevent heart disease. Eating fish is a great and healthy way to add protein to your diabetic diet.

People who have diabetes are at a higher risk of suffering from some type of cardiovascular disease. That is why it is important to include fish at least 2-3 times a week in your meals.

Although some say that fish is higher in calories, the benefits of Omega 3, Vitamin D and protein certainly out weight the cons.

What if you don’t like fish? There are several types of fish, some stronger tasting then others ask at your local market for a light tasting fish. Try cooking a fish fillet or a fish sandwich. If you can’t eat fish at all then try taking omega 3 supplements.
