Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects over 150 million people in the world today.
The percentage of people suffering from diabetes is increasing rapidly, to the point where many medical authorities are referring to it as an epidemic.
So what is diabetes?
Diabetes prevents your body from turning your food into energy. Instead glucose stays in your bloodstream, and left untreated can result in a range of complications.
If you have recently been diagnosed as diabetic, don’t worry. With proper treatment and care, you will lead a normal and happy life. You may need to make a few changes in your lifestyle - but then, if you are like me, you probably had plans to do that anyway and just never got round to it.
Now is the time to kick yourself into action. You cannot leave this up to your doctor alone - it needs you to take responsibility for your own treatment, and that starts with understanding what you are dealing with.

Flavored Oatmeal For Diabetics
There’s nothing like a traditional and tasty oatmeal for breakfast. This quick recipe will help you make a yummy oatmeal with lots of flavor!
Ingredients:

2 cups quick cooking oats
3/4 cup Xylitol sweetener
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp butter-flavored granules
1/4tsp salt
Preparation:
1. Combine all ingredients in a plastic bag or airtight container. Store until ready for use.
2. Shake mix together when you are ready to use.
Makes 7 servings
MICROWAVE
- Place cup oat mixture in a
microwave-safe bowl.
- Add 1/2 cup water.
- Microwave on HIGH for 2 minutes or
until desired consistenc y is reached.
- Stir and serve immediately.
- Makes 1 serving
STOVETOP
- In a small saucepan over high heat, bring 1 cup water to a brisk boil.
- Add 1/2 cup oat mixture and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
- Let stand until desired consistency is reached.

FLAVOR VARIATIONS
1. Maple Spice Flavor: For each serving of oatmeal, stir in 1 teaspoon Imitation Maple flavoring and 1 butter-flavored granules into oatmeal before cooking.
